Description
Staplex® Model FC-1 and FC-2 Flow Controllers automatically control the mass flow rate through an High Volume Air Sampler (such as Staplex® Model TFIA and TFIA-2). The air sampler flow rate is maintained constant regardless of filter loading, atmospheric conditions and line voltage change.
Since the "mass" flow is controlled (referenced to standard conditions of 76 cm Hg and 25° C), no corrections for ambient temperature or barometric pressure changes are required. Staplex® Model FC-1 and FC-2 automatically control the standard cubic feet per minute (SCFM) [or standard cubic meters per minute (SCMM)] sampled.
An easy access adjustable knob is used to set the proper flow rate. This makes the FC-1 and FC-2 Flow Controllers convenient to use in the field. Staplex® FC-1 and FC-2 use the latest all solid-state electronics, high quality printed circuit board, rugged metal-covered sensor and weather-proof electronics enclosure.
In operation, the sensor is placed downstream of the filter in the neck of the filter holder assembly. The electrical output signal from the sensor is used to regulate the air sample motor speed to maintain a constant standard flow rate through the filter. Flow calibration in the field is minimized because Models FC-and FC-2 have excellent stability and repeatability. Accuracy of Mass Flow Control at 40 CFM is ±2.5% deviation over 24-hour sampling period.
Staplex® Models FC-1 and FC-2 can mount to the inside of the Staplex® SAM Aluminum Outdoor Shelter or similar shelter. Models FC-1 and FC-2 meet the requirements of maintaining High Volume Air Sampler flow rate as stated in 40 CFR Part 50, Appendix B Reference Method for sampling Total Suspended Particulates (TSP) in the atmosphere and 40 CFR Part 52, No. 120 Appendix J for PM10 Air Sampling.
